In his role as director of the School of Building Arts, Ivan Chow supervises the operations of the architecture, architectural history, historic preservation, interior design, furniture design and urban design departments, including their communications, facilities and initiatives. He joined SCAD after serving as a capital project manager and lecturer in design and construction project management at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. His vast experience in asset and project management, financial analysis, land planning, building design and construction has included forming and operating two architectural practices in California. One of them is Ivan S. Chow Architect, which caters primarily to nonprofit organizations, with projects across the U.S. and in Southeast Asia. Ivan earned his Master of Architecture from Harvard University and his Bachelor of Arts in architecture from the University of California, Berkeley. He graduated summa cum laude with a Master of Arts in theological studies from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. Ivan has also completed executive education in real estate financial analysis, urban retail planning and elderly housing at Harvard.
