Singapore native Josephine Leong has held numerous positions at SCAD since joining the university as a professor of computer art in 2001. In 2003, she became the chair of the visionary interactive design and game development program, where she presided over skyrocketing student growth and created SCAD’s popular annual Game Developers eXchange conference. From 2008 to 2011, she served as assistant dean of SCAD’s former School of Film and Digital Media, helping to create new curriculum while guiding faculty and students across nine departments and 10 majors — and continuing to teach. Before moving to the United States, Leong had an international career with work experience that included creating multimedia courses at a startup, managing projects for private companies and public entities in Singapore and Japan, and teaching at the Japan-Singapore Institute of Software Technology, where she also earned her undergraduate degree. Leong earned a Master's of Science in intelligent knowledge-based systems from the University of Essex.
