In addition to teaching industrial design graduate and undergraduate courses, Michael Felix manages the curriculum for the interaction design minor. He also mentors students on real-world projects, such as a recent partnership with Hewlett-Packard accomplished through the Collaborative Learning Center. He is the founder and principal of EFFALO, a multidisciplinary research and design collaborative, and the director of Design/Build, a marketplace data visualization startup targeted at Amazon.com merchants. As a designer, he has created and developed projects from interactive music software to 3-D printed geodesic domes, which earned him a mention in The New York Times. He previously taught as an adjunct professor at James Madison University, served as a lead interaction designer for Revelation and Vertical Inc., and was an artist-in-resident at Monome Inc. He earned a Master's of Industrial Design and Bachelor of Environmental Design from Auburn University.
